The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are community volunteers who learn and educate people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. These volunteers also provide training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. We want to make sure they are properly geared for these type of situations so we offer a line of CERT Emergency Kits to help first responders and search and rescue efforts in their community. Plus we have CERT gear to help the volunteers make sure they are properly represented as CERT members to the rest of their community.

DID YOU KNOW? The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) in 1985. The Whittier Narrows earthquake in 1987 underscored the area-wide threat of a major disaster in California. Further, it confirmed the need for training civilians to meet their immediate needs. As a result, the LAFD created the Disaster Preparedness Division with the purpose of training citizens as well as private and government employees.
